How to maintain kitchen knives?
Care for your kitchen knives like a professional. Learn how to prolong the life expectancy of your knife and maintain an ultra sharp cutting edge.
Washing Knives
All kitchen knives should be handwashed to prevent damage form the dishwasher. High temperatures, dishwasher salts, and movement of the knives destroy their cutting edge. Once used in the dishwasher, the surface of the knife is visibly altered and your GLOBAL guarantee is voided. Please hand wash only with mild detergents and dry immediately after washing.
Preventing Rust
GLOBAL Cromova 18 stainless steel knives are more resistant to rust than other knives but still require drying immediately after washing to prevent corrosion. We suggest adding a little camelia oil after each use for an additional protective barrier.
How to clean rust off stainless steel knives?
If stainless knives are left in water, they can begin to corrode. MinoSharp have developed a rust remover, MinoSharp "Magic Rubber" Abrasive Cleaner, to remove rust from stainless steel knives. A simple and quick knife maintenance tool to clean rust off knives, pots and pans for a clean, shiny finish.
Knife Storage
Knives should be stored safely, with blades kept in a fixed position. We do not recommend storing knives loose in a drawer.

Cutting Surface
Your choice of chopping board is important. Hard surfaces will cause knives to go blunt and wear faster. We recommend choosing wooden or plastic chopping boards and avoiding glass or stone to prevent damage. Discover GLOBAL’s new range of knife friendly Cherry Wood Chopping Boards.

Global magnetic blade guards are designed to secure your knives safely and conveniently. When you don ’t have a block to store knives, or if you prefer to store knives in a chef's case or drawer, these guards offer the perfect solution to keep your knives safe and sharp. Each guard is made of a soft touch and flexible plastic material with a magnetic strip inside to hold the knife in place. The guard has a hinged design to make it easy to insert and take out your knife. The guards come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large.
